A Special Day for the Farm

When the sun rose, little Lauren, the sheep cub, woke up in the barn and ventured outside. She was greeted by a scene of chaos that day. Excitedly, she noticed tents set up near the house of the farm owner, Charles. At just five or six months old, this was the first time Lauren had ever seen tents. Although she didn’t understand what was happening, she sensed that it might be a special day for Charles.
As she explored, Lauren spotted Victor, the dog, happily running around and welcoming the guests with his wagging tail. To her, Victor seemed very cheerful. He served as their nighttime guard, protecting the farm animals from any violent threats. At first, Lauren was frightened of him; his face looked menacing. However, she soon realized that beneath that intimidating exterior, Victor had a kind heart.
Lauren approached Victor, who greeted her with a wagging tail. She asked, "Uncle Victor, what's going on? Why are you so happy? Why are there so many guests here today?" Victor was in a joyful mood, and his tail conveyed his excitement.
Victor replied, "Last night, our owners, Charles and Annie, were blessed with a baby girl! There’s going to be a party this evening, and the guests are here to celebrate and bless the family." This was joyful news for Lauren. "I have a new sister!" she exclaimed loudly, filled with happiness. Victor chuckled and said, "Yes! You have a new little sister, and you know what? I will guard her too!"
Lauren was very happy and wanted to share the news with her mother. She ran towards the barn and saw her mother with Aunt Rosy the cow. She approached them and said, "Mother, do you know we have a little sister now? Uncle Victor will protect her too!"
Aunt Rosy's eyebrows shot up as she asked, "Little sister? Who are the blessed parents, dear Lauren?"
Lauren replied, "Oh, it’s the owners!"
Aunt Rosy nodded and said, "Oh, I see. That’s why there are tents and guests."
Aunt Rosy then announced to the barn animals, "Hey everyone, listen! Our little Lauren has some exciting news—our owners have been blessed with a new baby girl!" The animals began to murmur in excitement.
Zeni the hen exclaimed, "Oh my god, what wonderful news!"
Hercules the buffalo added, "Oh wow, it’s a party today!"
Andre the pig suddenly started singing the "Happy Birthday" song for the baby, and all the animals joined in.
Victor heard the song from outside and rushed over to join them. After the birthday song ended, Lauren approached Victor and asked, "Uncle, are you free to go inside the owner's house? Did you see the baby?"
Victor replied, "Yes, Charles is a very kind person. He introduced me to the baby, and she is very pretty."
Lauren said, "Uncle, please let me come with you. I want to see the baby too."
Victor responded, "Oh, little Lauren, you want to see the baby?"
Lauren nodded excitedly.
Victor continued, "Okay, come with me, but do not touch the baby, alright? I didn't touch her either."
Lauren promised that she would only look at the baby, and both of them went to the house. When Lauren reached the baby's room, she saw Charles, Annie, and some other guests there.
Charles saw Lauren and somehow guessed that she was there to see the baby. He lifted Lauren with both hands and placed her near the baby. As Lauren looked at the baby, she exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, how beautiful is my sister!" Suddenly, the baby reached out and touched Lauren. Lauren felt the warmth of the baby's hands and was overwhelmed with happiness at that moment.
Victor, feeling jealous, couldn’t understand why Lauren was allowed to touch the baby while he was not. He eventually left to attend to his duty of welcoming the guests, leaving Lauren in the house for several hours. Sometimes she sat on the bed, at other times on the couch, exploring every corner of the home. Charles offered her some bread, and she enjoyed eating everything he provided.
As night approached, Victor returned for little Lauren and said, "It's time to go, little Lauren. Let's move to the barn."
Little Lauren looked at her baby sister one last time for the day and walked towards the barn. She couldn't wait to share everything that had happened with her and wondered how her mother would react when she learned that Lauren had touched the baby, eaten bread, and eaten other things she didn’t even know the names of.
When little Lauren was returning to the barn, in the way she saw guests in the party area enjoying their food and drinks. When she reached the part of the barn where her mother usually stays, she could not find her. Someone told her that her mother, Aunt Rosy, Uncle Andre, and some other animals had been invited to the house to bless the baby. Lauren was excited that her mother was with the baby, but she couldn't understand why she didn't see them in the house, even though she had been there the whole day. She decided that when her mother returned, she would ask her about it.
Lauren waited for her mother; Uncle Victor came for his guarding duty, but her mother still didn't come home.
She waited all night, and then the sun rose...
